No plaque of memorial on a tree in Awamoa Park Oamaru

The council are open to place a tree where our son was killed in a tragic car accident but NO PLAQUE (policy 78). On 21/01/2020 4 days before lockdown.

Our family have been affected by trauma and the initial shock, disbelief and anger has given way to a depth of sadness we have never experienced before, and we shed many tears from the weight of it.

Our family would like to see this policy changed as this is bound to happen again. We would not wish another family to endure this painful experience. 

Because of the lockdown, there was no proper send off, so having a tree with a plaque of rememberance is a great tribute and warning for others in the future of the devastation that speeding can cause, even if you happen to be a passenger as Christopher (Chippa) was. 

As parents it was such a tragic shock as family and friends were unable to attend any funeral ie: have closure. So that's why I believe a tree with a plaque would allow closure and also be a warning for everyone driving through to watch your speed. The consequences of speed.
