This petition is to start a conversation and ultimately get the Rec Well center to build a Rock Climbing wall within or outside the facility. Most major colleges around the area provide climbing walls; Wayne State, Grand Valley State, Western Michigan, U-M Dearborn, etc. for anyone wondering where the closes climbing gyms are you have two options, either the planet rock in Madison Heights or the planet rock in Ann Arbor. benefits for a climbing wall are the ability to get a full-body workout that trains non-traditional muscles through static, dynamic, and kinetic movements. equipment is inexpensive and provides an outlet for students to work on climbing problems and technics that are not school-related. Climbing gyms brings such a supportive and fun community that Oakland University and the Rec Well Center would really benefit from.
