Oakland Opportunity Academy is an alternative public high school that serves approximately 150 students from Clarenceville, Huron Valley, Novi, South Lyon, Walled Lake, and West Bloomfield. It is for students who have struggled to succeed in a mainstream high school, whether it be emotionally, socially, or academically.

OOA teachers design individualized learning plans for all students to ensure graduation. The positive culture and amazing dedication of the staff reduces anxiety for the students, and improves attendance. This is a fantastic school that is life-changing for many of the kids that attend. These are the kids that had given up on ever succeeding at school. These are the kids that may have dropped out of the school system altogether if it weren't for the Oakland Opportunity Academy.

Now, Oakland Schools, the governing body for the Oakland Opportunity Academy, has decided to close the OOA after this current school year. Students, parents, and educators just found out about this, and are devastated. The final vote on this decision will happen April 21st.
