Oakland has the worst roads in the country, and roads in low-income neighborhoods are especially bad. This increases transportation costs for people living in these neighborhoods and makes it difficult and sometimes unsafe for these people to get to work. The City of Oakland should use money from property taxes to repave these roads in order to increase equity.
