OLIVIA KRATZ started this petition to Oak Park and River Forest High School

In January of this year, New York placed a ban on styrofoam. Lawmakers created this ban because, while styrofoam is more affordable and efficient to obtain, it poses a threat to the environment. This threat is present because styrofoam cannot be recycled in a manner that is both affordable and environmentally effective. Because of this, attempts to recycle objects of this material are often neglected. Despite their environmentally deprecating characteristics, Oak Park and River Forest (OPRF) High School continues to use trays made of styrafoam. I know many of the students at OPRF are committed to saving the environment and depressed that their school is harming the Earth in this way. Please sign this petition if you feel that OPRF should follow the lead of New York and eliminate the use of styrofoam trays all together.
