We, the undersigned* parents of current, former, and prospective Indigo Program students, oppose the new Oak Grove School District (OGSD) policy to prohibit students in any district choice program from applying to any other district choice program, and we oppose the manner in which the district implemented this policy without discussion with or notification of affected families. We believe strongly in the mission of the Indigo Program and support the district’s goal of providing steady enrollment and resources for Indigo and other choice programs through all of their grade levels. However, this support cannot come at the expense of students and families whose needs may change over time. We demand that OGSD rescind this policy not only for this year’s applicants but for all currently enrolled students at the Indigo Program, and meet with parent representatives to find a mutually agreeable solution to the district’s concerns for choice program enrollment.
