Tax alcohol to the same extent of tobacco in NZ

I think, along with many other New Zealanders, that alcohol taxes should be at the same level as tobacco.
Over the last 4 years tobacco taxes have been 14% per year and were supposed to be until 2016. That did not happen and now over the next 3 years it is going up by 10% every year!!
Everyone knows that alcohol is the highest contributing factor in road accidents, resulting in most cases with death, and public & domestic violence. Yet alcohol is so cheap to purchase?
Smoking does not kill people outright like car accidents and domestic violence does. Smokers are being singled out and their "Freedom of Choice" has been taken away from them.
What is with the drinking age being so low at 18 years? No wonder so many young people die on the roads every year. It is time that the Government reviews it's taxes on alcohol and bring it up to the same level as tobacco. Maybe then we will see less deaths on the roads....
How many more innocent people have to die because the other driver was drunk?
