The corona virus is spreading across France, with numbers climbing each and everyday. Most people have the misconception that this is just another flu. But it’s different from the flu because it not only has a longer incubation period, but also will leave permanent damage to your lung once you got it. Plus, there is NO CURE. You will be left to your own immune system to combat the virus, so that’s one of the reasons why the old are more prone to it. And if Paris enter into a stage 3 situation, the hospitals will probably only accept patients that are critically ill. The virus is also different from the flu because, chances are, you would not be able to breath once you got it, because it directly targets your lung. The actual symptoms resemble that of pneumonia, not the flu! The symptoms only look like the flu in the first two weeks. Plus, if you get the corona virus, you might be fine if your immune system is strong, but you will carry the virus around and might pass it to those that you love.

We really want to study and learn at NYU Paris, and the classes are amazing. But we commute to school everyday, and since nobody is wearing masks, it is really not the safest environment. When the borders shut down, it will be too late to leave and we will be stuck in Paris. So it would be the smartest choice to close the campus for the safety of all, as soon as possible. It will also be the fairest way for all students study abroad this semester.

If closing down the campus is not possible, the all we are asking is for the students to have the option to stream the classes in the dorms, so that we don’t have to take public transportations, especially during the rush hours.
