NYU: Respect Your Workers - Settle a Good Contract with UCATS
This petition had 1,251 supporters
The contract between The Union of Clerical, Administrative & Technical Staff (UCATS) and New York University (NYU) expired on October 31, 2017. UCATS represents 1,400 highly skilled and educated employees who deliver outstanding educational services to NYU students and faculty. NYU had a profit of $132,974,517 last year. They just renovated NYU President Andrew Hamilton’s apartment on Washington Square Park in Manhattan at a cost of $1,100,000, in which he will live rent-free while UCATS members struggle with student debt and long commutes to affordable housing. Rather than respect their employees with wages and benefits commensurate with our education and skills, NYU has offered meager wage increases, higher health insurance premiums, and the elimination of important rights and benefits from the previous contract. NYU, live up to your progressive ideals – Pay your workers a living wage for NYC and don’t diminish our rights and benefits.
