Hello my name is Jessica Sullivan I am the mother of an infant child named Maddox who was closed fist punched in the abdomen when he was sleeping by his father on July 17, 2021. The same day an eight week old baby died from being punched the exact same way. That man is going to prison. My sons father Was sentenced to 15 days in jail to which he only served 7, in solitary the whole time. It is completely unacceptable to me that a person can physically abuse their infant in such a heinous violent way and not be punished under the law. My child deserves the same fundamental rights that we all have and I will not sit back and let this be OK. I want justice for my child and all children who are abused. The law needs to change and there needs to be a law that particularly protects small children from any sort of physical violence. When is it ever ok to punch a baby!?!? There’s a video that is incredibly hard to watch of him Throwing my SLEEPING baby onto my bed obstructing his breathing from his mouth and his nose with his hand with such force that you can see my infants neck being bent backwards. He pulled his other arm back as far as he could and punched him violently as hard as he could in the abdomen. This is a 13 month old baby that can barely walk or talk. This is the equivalent of a giant punching a full grown man as hard as he could. You can hear my child stop breathing before he starts to scream and cry and you can physically hear his fist hit his tiny defenseless body. This man should be in prison. And my baby deserves justice under the law. He has also been indicated in abuse against his older child as well, and admitted in a video recorded confession with the police when arrested that this was not the only time he abused my child. How is this possible that he is getting away with myltiple violent crimes against both of his children. My child should be entitled to the same protection under the law as any other human being. He should be protected more because he was defenseless in this, and was sleeping when this happened to him by the person who is supposed to be protecting him from things like this. This is sending a message to child abusers that it is OK to abuse your children as long as you don’t kill them and that is beyond wrong. I am speaking out for my child as well as all children who are victims of such heinous acts committed against them. They are not being protected the way they should be. Please help me. Our children are our future they are the most vulnerable people in our society and they deserve better than this. I saw that you help enact Lilly’s law.. I was wondering if you could give me some advice on who you contacted, how you started all this. And what I can do to ensure justice for my child.
