Dear Governor Cuomo,

This petition is asking for your careful consideration into allowing the rural areas of New York State to hold high school Class of 2020 graduation ceremonies.

Since the rural areas of the State have had very few cases of COVID-19 in comparison to the NYC area, we are asking that our children and graduates that have worked so hard, for so many years, have the opportunity to be recognized for this huge accomplishment. 

These schools have a much smaller student body and can hold graduation while still taking social distancing into consideration. Whether it is with seats distanced apart in a gymnasium, auditorium, or on a football field, please consider allowing their high schools to open the doors one last time and allow these young adults the last Senior rite of passage that they so well deserve.
