Megan Rodman started this petition to NYS Assembly and

1 in 54 individuals in the United States are diagnosed with Autism as of 2020 (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2020). This growing number indicates that comprehensive care centers need to be put into place to help those with ASD regardless of their developmental disability.

Occupational therapists provide care for many individuals with autism along with physical therapists, speech therapists, and many other medical professionals. These centers would specialize in autism and therefore set them up with the supports, strategies and resources needed to be successful and independent. These centers can provide assistance with jobs, college applications, life skills, money management and so much more!

NYS Assembly bill A03599 was put into action to help develop comprehensive care centers and testing centers for individuals with Autism. Many of these centers are located in larger cities which can make it very difficult for those who live in more rural areas to receive the proper care they need. Due to lack of transportation, funding and resources many individuals can go undiagnosed or do not receive the services at all.

Please take time to sign this petition as this will increase ASD awareness and help to develop comprehensive care centers in rural areas of New York State.
