Evie Lily started this petition to NYRA and

The deaths of 21 horses at Santa Anita within the space of the month have lead to another outcry for a National Governing Body to become the main authoritative voice for racing within the USA. This is mainly because of the lack of a uniform response for what is happening at Santa Anita, but there are a vast majority of reasons for the USA to adopt a National Governing Body, based on the current authority National Governing Bodies in other countries currently have:

- it will create better consistency from stewards when determining the outcomes of inquiries
- it will create a better managed race schedule
- it will help to protect the integrity of the sport
- it will help to prompt improvements for equine welfare
- it will make it easier to set and enforce racing rules

And the one thing most people want to see,

- it will create an environment where it is much easier to maintain and regulate drug use

A further in depth look at this issue can be found at www.reinitinracing.wordpress.com It is clear to see that the vast majority of people want to see this change be made, so why not start by signing this petition? Although it won’t make a definitive change, we would still like to see a response from the current governing boards in place, such as the Stronach Group and the NYRA.
