They are freezing, starving, without toilets and plumbing, living in despair. We're talking about your neighbors.
As the Daily News reports, over a week after Sandy hit, 21,000 NYC residents - most of them invalids or the elderly - are left without power because the NYCHA just hasn't gotten to it yet. Help your neighbors by signing this petition, and forcing the NYCHA to behave humanely!
As the Daily News reports, over a week after Sandy hit, 21,000 residents - most of them invalids or the elderly - are left without power because of the inaction of the NYCHA. Without heat, they suffer as snow and freezing temperatures hit. Without elevators they are unable to leave their apartments to procure food and water. Without power they are unable to flush their toilets, living in squalor. These are inhumane conditions, right in the middle of New York City - and while Con Ed is ready to turn the power on, the apathy of the NYCHA is forcing residents to remain in these unconscionable conditions.
Perhaps they're trying, but trying doesn't cut it. They need to do.
Please sign and share this petition to implore the NYCHA to act, turn on the power, and restore dignity and the most basic of human rights - food and shelter - to your neighbors living in public housing.
