Recently the amount of mopeds and scooters on our New York City streets has increased. Mopeds and scooters are overwhelmingly dangerous for pedestrians and drivers because they are being driven and operated illegally! Most of these "motor cycles" are unregistered, uninsured, and the drivers are unlicensed. Like many of you, I have witnessed and experienced dangerous situations due to these cyclists driving recklessly! They drive by schools, parks, and on walking and jogging paths. They drive on our city streets in between traffic, they cut corners and run through traffic lights! These scooters and mopeds are a huge a problem in NYC because they complicate our already crowded streets and cause accidents!

Unfortunately licensed, insured drivers like you and I can be deemed at fault and even sued when the person breaking the law is the cause of collision. The problem is increasingly getting worse as these motorized bikes become more popular. In some neighborhoods you can see 3 or 4 parked outside one home!

Our NYC streets are overwhelmed by this issue. The misuse of mopeds and scooters are a danger to anyone walking or driving a legally operated vehicle. It needs to STOP!
