I decided to make this petition on behalf of my fellow New York City students. opening schools during a pandemic is not a smart choice and this action can make the number of cases in New York rise again. for the students that take public transit, they are risking their life and their family members lives by stepping on a train or bus full of people they do not know and can possibly contract this virus. even the hybrid learning method is not a smart choice, students can be exposed on their way to school and their way back. I am a student myself, going into my 11th year in high school and even though I want to get everything back to normal, we are in a time of the unknown and keeping schools doing the remote method is the best chance we have at overcoming this pandemic.
