Change the name of the NYC PBA to include women officers.

In 2002 NYC PBA President Patrick Lynch promised to help change the name of the PBA in recognition of the heroism of female officers, in particular Police Officer Moira Ann Smith who was killed in the line of duty on September 11th, 2001 while rescuing thousands of New Yorkers from the Towers. Since then, many other female Officers have paid the ultimate price for their service to the city and the Department. Recently the PBA lost another hero, Police Officer Miosotis Familia. It is past time that the PBA acknowledges the sacrifices, courage, and dedication of its female members. We request that the PBA change its name to the Police Officer's Benevolent Association in Honor of Moira, Miosotis, and the thousands of women of the NYC police Department.
