I am usually not the type to post stuff like this on social media or create petitions, but I’m honestly looking for help, and create awareness of what’s going on at Buena Vida Continuing Care and Rehabilitation Center., located at 48 Cedar Street, Brooklyn, NY 11221.

The community needs to know this is NOT the place to take a loved one in case you need to. Please do a thorough research if you need to, I went by another family member having a good experience there, and perhaps that was my mistake.

My father was transferred to this place after being admitted to two different hospitals, he went to this rehab facility as a COVID negative patient only to contract the virus there, he was as HE told my mother placed in the same room with someone who had the virus. (I am not sure if he meant the person had the virus currently or had it recently) in either case, he should’ve been placed on a different floor or in a room by himself for the first 14 days as they said he would be.

The staff is negligent, irresponsible and disrespectful with family members when we call for updates. I called daily to get updates on my father’s condition and they barely ever answered the phone, when they did answer, they were vague.

The day they called to request consent to transfer him to a hospital because his oxygen was low, we gave consent for him to be taken to Bellevue and they took him somewhere else without our consent due to the severity of his condition, that is acceptable and understandable, what I don’t accept is that they didn’t know to which hospital the ambulance had taken my father to, I had to notify them which hospital he was taken to.

He was their responsibility they should’ve known where he was before we did. I am not looking for sympathy, pity or any economic compensation from them. All I want is justice for my father, he was not just something disposable, he mattered to someone and I also want someone there at Buena Vida to be held accountable for their negligence and irresponsible services. PLEASE HELP ME by sharing this petition. I know this is not the first time it happens, I have been exchanging communication with two other families of people who also contracted the virus at Buena Vida and they don’t want to give her answers either. Now that I am requesting my father’s medical records they are making it very difficult to obtain these items. I wouldn’t like this to happen to any other family. A place where the staff is so irresponsible shouldn’t continue to be open to the public.

Thank you in advance for your help.
