The intersection of Pacific Street and Court Street on the border of Boerum Hill and Cobble Hill has always been a dangerous corner.
Delivery trucks and double-parked cars on Court Street create congestion and hinder visibility for motorists and pedestrians alike. Cars turning left from Pacific Street must crane to see southbound traffic on Court Street, while also looking for pedestrians crossing the roadway. For pedestrians traveling from Cobble Hill to Boerum Hill, there is no place to safely cross Court Street.
Limited visibility and a multitude of distractions in the congested area have been the cause of many accidents, fender-benders, and near-misses at this corner. That's why we are calling on DOT to do a full study of the Pacific Street and Court Street intersection and immediately implement traffic mitigation measures that increase visibility and create safe pedestrian crossings.
We must keep our streets safe and take action to protect everyone who lives in and visits Boerum Hill.
