Angel Villalona started this petition to NYC City Council

Hello Everyone. Today I decided to take a beach day with my family, and the last thing we had in mind was that we were gonna be treated different because of color of our skin. I am proud Black Dominican man, but today I was not that to the staff of long beach in Long Island, I was a target.

As I arrived there was a white lady who felt the need to tell us a family of color to wear a mask where everyone else was not. We chose to ignore this because we were not going to let someone ignorant behavior bother us. As we got the beach were were stopped again by a white worker and told us we can not go to a “PUBLIC” beach if we were not from the county and we had to pay a pass fee of $15.

The issue was not paying the $15 dollars,  $15 is a hour wage in NYC so it really not that much money. The problem was that when we decided to sit down for a while and here was we saw white privilege for own eyes. There other groups of white people that were admitted entrance without being ask a single thing. I then went to ask the workers why only a few were asked to verify where they come from. Their response was that knew who were already were in and most came from the bathrooms, keep in mind these people were coming in for the first time as I saw with my own two eyes. The year is now 2020, we had riots protest wrote BLM matter everywhere, and know the question I ask you now do black lives matter if they did why did I have to live through this or anyone really?

The beach is called Long Beach and located in the Long Beach County in Long Island. I am currently on my way to Far Rockaway beach because here that skin color, or race, class, wealth does not divide us where we are one and treated like one. Im not saying to boycott the beach just to be aware of how they treat other different and think is that the beach you should be going
