Remove Candy Nation: Irreverent, A slap in the face of those who lost loved ones on 911.
The “Candy Nation” currently displayed at Ground Zero in NYC is an affront to every American who lost their lives on 911 at the hands of Islamic extremist. This display highlights a candy sculpture of the Saudi Arabia flag which has the Islamic conversion prayer written in Arabic with the “sword” placed underneath. This represents their ideology of conversion or death. The art display could have been place anywhere in New York or the country for that matter but choosing to put it on the hallowed grounds of the World Trade Center at Ground Zero is not only offensive it is insensitive and unforgivable. On September 11, 2001– 2,996 people lost their lives at the hand of this ideology. This number does not include the 88,000 people who have since registered with the World Trade Center Health Program to be treated for illnesses due to this unspeakable attack. Please bear witness to the sacrifice that horrific day brought to our native soil and immediately REMOVE “Candy Nation” from Ground Zero. We, as Americans, should be mortified that this display was ever allowed on such a solemn sight where our fellow Americans lost their lives, loved ones, and so much more.
