STOP THE VACCINE MANDATES !

                    Keep our NY Health Care System open and staffed.

I am a Registered Nurse and have been working in Dialysis for the last 32 years. I made the personal choice to receive the Covid Vaccine in Febuary of 2021.  I did this to protect my elderly family from Covid while we cared for them. They were 85 and 92 years old.  They were in need of care in their stage of life. My husband and I felt that the possible side effects to us outweighed the effect of our parents getting Covid.  Sadly, a year later they passed away from old age, not Covid. It was OUR choice to be vaccinated in order to protect our parents. There were no vaccine mandates at the time of our decision.  We knew that the elderly were at a high risk to die from  Covid and children were at a very low risk.  We made this decision knowing we had the God given right to choose what treatments we wanted or did not want.

NOW WE HAVE MANDATES !!!!

Since the first mandate I have felt the repercussions of losing caring nurses in my field.  We have worked short staffed with more hours due to the first mandate.  I have gone home at the end of a 12-15 hour day, sat in my driveway and cried before going inside.  Why am I crying.. I am sad, angry, and scared of the effects we have on patient care and self awareness after this mandate.   Now we face yet another mandate that will cause more shortages of quality nursing care, more heartache to patients, and a loss of livelihood to both patients and staff. 

We healthcare workers chose our career knowing we too could contract any disease process from patients.  We take precautions, but also know it may not be enough.  We care for others no matter the disease processes they have encountered. Being a healthcare worker allows us to help patients understand how they can improve their quality of life or have dignity at the time of their death.  They have the right to make an informed decision on any aspect of their care or treatment.  Healthcare workers also have the right to make informed decisions for our care 

Let us continue to care for you, your family, your friends, and any human being who is in need of medical treatment.  Don't force us to stop giving passionate care, respect, knowledge, and  care to all patients.  Let us continue to keep our job helping others. 

DO NOT MANDATE OUR LIFE, DO NOT STOP US FROM OUR PASSIONS.
