This petition is to get attention from the board and Mr. Glover in regards to his "hard decision" after the "school's inability of securing a teacher after advertising the position for over three months" and the board "made the difficult decision to sunset the Certified Nursing Assistant II class for 2020-2021. With this closure, a new program that is dedicated for Medical Assistant will substitute for our lost CNA program.

There are many issues with this plan:

1. This isn't compatible with the current plan of basic nursing certifications, DCW and CNA. If we want a full Nursing Certificate by the end of our 2nd year, but don't have the resources, how can we get the full credit of being a nurse?

2. There was absolutely NO communication or notice that the Nursing Assistant teachers would be leaving. His decision to act on his own accord without our voices is a 1st amendment violation.

3. After all the scandals that have happened with Nursing Assistant I & II, it seems there's a lack of care for our program. Especially to me, it feels as if we've been failed by our own education system.

Many of us want to become full-pledged nurses. We signed up for CAVIT in the hopes that this program would bring success. By brushing off our opinions, as the students themselves, it's careless for a superintendent and his board to anyhow.

UPDATE: Mr. Glover has given to option to have a 2nd semester for CNA. While our efforts as parents and students are working, we still have a lot to go. With all the time given due to lockdowns and our Governor extending reopening schools until Aug. 17, he STILL has a chance to find a teacher that can help us in becoming certified CNAs.
