Allow NP’s autonomy in their career.

I believe NP’s are not treated as the educated professionals that we are. We provide valuable and essential services and are already underpaid for what we do! Do not let politicians or the AMA continue to suppress us and not include is in our own fate!! We are valued and deserve to be heard.

I am a Nurse Practitioner that Can have the flexibility to be an independent contractor and decide on own hours and pay. Which is what an independent contractor does;therefore we should be one of exempted professions

AB5 is un American. I got an exemption as a musician and want to fight for others exemptions - or even better, for it to be repealed

My mom was a Nurse Practitioner for years and she worked hard during her career to advocate for Nurse Practitioners and to help introduce young people to career paths in nursing. This was really important for her.

I think this is going to affect not only the NPs that provide this but especially patient access to care which is already strained.

I didn't receive an advance degree and work my ass off to get it to be classified as a "Gig worker." What a slap in the face from supporters and legislatures of AB5. Is that what you think of NPs taking care of your family in California? They are gig workers? Try calling them that when they are writing orders for your mother, inserting a hemodialysis catheter in your wife, or inserting a central line in grandma, or planning the care of your child?

As an independent contractor myself, and Simone who provides consulting services, AB5 should be recalled. It’s initial stance on gig workers was a nearsighted appeal to audience with a clear disregard for the downstream effects. I choose this line of work because it affords me more opportunities and better compensation. I am my own boss, I work my own hours, and for who/where I want to work. AB5 is terrible legislation. Stop, NOW!
