Jonathan Falkner started this petition to NSW State Government

NSW Government have proposed a plan to commercially develop the historic Mt Kosciuszko National Park. The park was established in 1967 by a coalition government and is now having numerous commercial developments proposed including extended and new car-parking lots, vehicles on walking tracks, helicopter flights over ski-fields, a 4,000 bed increase and artificial heating at at Yarrangobilly thermal pools. Additions such as the helicopter rides will destroy the atmosphere of the park while others such as allowing vehicles on walking tracks will have a far more direct impact and will destroy the landscape in addition to unique flora and fauna.

These developments will further damage the ecosystem of the park which is already facing challenges such bushfires, a feral horse plague and habitat loss. The NSW State Government needs to stop this development plan so that the park can be preserved for future generations to enjoy and to prevent many endangered animals that reside in the park from going extinct such as the mountain pigmy possum and the alpine she-oak skink.

The NSW State Government needs to help Kosciuszko National Park recover, not cause further habitat loss. Help preserve this unique ecosystem!!
