Cheenu Srinivasan started this petition to NSW Premier and

The recently introduced Sydney Metro Trains are wheel chair accessible but the hand rails are grey at the doors and a pale lemon green instead of the bright yellow as in our trains and buses.

The visually impaired person would find it difficult to sight the hand rails as they are not  fully compliant with accessible transport standards for people with disabilities.

Signage and colour of hand rails must be consistent across all modes of public transport in NSW and indeed across all of Australia.

Governments must realise that there are only two classes- people with disabilities and people not yet disabled. A system that caters for the former would also cater for the latter as those in any government should know.

This petition is to ask that the NSW Government does the following:

1. Replace the grey hand rails with bright yellow handrails as in the trains and buses.

2. Retrofit the other hand rails and overhead hand grips with bright yellow at the first opportunity of a major train maintenance.

3. Ensure all metro trains due for delivery and the to be introduced Sydney Light Train are all fully accessible in line with transport standards for people with disabilities.

4. Review conformance and consistency in design and execution of  transport disability standards across all modes of public transport and passenger facilities including public toilets at stations and interchanges.

5. Report to NSW Parliament on actions being taken and a timeline for implementation.
