Save NSW Rape Crisis Centre
0 have signed. Let’s get to 35,000.
Imagine having been attacked, violated - perhaps by someone close to you, perhaps on a night out. Maybe it was years ago and you're only just now getting the courage to talk about it.
The NSW Rape Crisis Centre desperately needs funding or it will close. It's the only state-wide, 24/7 service for anyone - male or female - who has experienced or is at risk of sexual assault. For years it's been doing an excellent job, guiding people through the mire, assisting victims giving evidence at the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and helping the NRL overhaul its attitudes to women.
Now due to the loss of a major government contract, the NGO may have to liquidate in order to pay the redundancies of a large number of staff.
Let's tell the Federal and State governments that we want our crisis service saved!
If you need to talk, you can contact the NSW Rape Crisis Centre on 1800 424 017 or you can visit the website http://www.nswrapecrisis.com.au/

Save NSW Rape Crisis Centre.
We, the signatories, want you to take action to ensure that NSW Rape Crisis Centre continues to be funded past October 31.
We understand that the not-for-profit behind the centre chose not to accept the contract Medibank offered to operate services for the 1800 RESPECT helpline, and we fully support its decision to do so.
We want to see our representatives and Ministers in Canberra and Macquarie Street work with Executive Officer Karen Willis to reach an agreement with Medibank which will ensure all redundancies are paid, and also ensure the NSW Rape Crisis Centre remains open and independent.
Since launching this petition, we have received a huge number of expressions of support for this service, many from people who have used it during dire need and have testified to the fantastic work it does.
Please - we want it to continue helping the women, men and children of New South Wales.
