Lifting Restrictions For Religious Worship

Dear Gladys Berejiklian, Premier of New South Wales
We, the undersigned, respectfully ask that you allow services in places of worship for more than 10 people with appropriate physical distancing protocols, according to the size of the place.
We believe that worship and rituals are essential for religious believers and that the current staged process for places of worship is too restrictive and spread over too long a period.
We understand the need to remain vigilant in the face of this crisis but believe that the need for vigilance can still be satisfied by returning to the more moderate restrictions imposed in mid-March. We also note that there appears to be an inconsistency in allowing schools, childcare centres, large hardware stores and shopping complexes to receive large numbers of individuals while allowing only a very small number of worshippers to enter their places of worship.
We the faithful, are disheartened to see our basic human right of religious liberties imposed upon and categorised as non-essential by the purely secular response of our civil leaders. How and when we worship in public should not be a government decision.
We look forward to any assistance you can provide to address the above-mentioned issues and allow the believers to access their services and rites.
