All NSW Public schools must be urgently fitted with the necessary digital equipment to take classes online and be connected to their teachers.

Public school students, unlike their friends at private schools, are missing out on direct teacher tuition. All NSW public schools must be urgently fitted with the necessary digital equipment to take classes online.

Right now hundreds of thousands of public school students are at home not school and their education is suffering because of the lack of on-line support and the lack of direct on-line interaction with their teachers.

The NSW government has an urgent responsibility to deal with the current Coronavirus crisis. What better way to create jobs than to install the necessary equipment to ensure our children are connected with their teachers in virtual classrooms and continue to learn. This needs to happen now.

Research shows, structure and routine are paramount to mental health and success in education. Creating virtual classrooms will help create structure and routine.

Universities are offering virtual classrooms, as are private schools. Public school students matter and this infrastructure must be rolled out and funded appropriately……now.

As concerned parents, we ask that you use this time and the April school holidays to employ people to install the necessary equipment, provide appropriate funding and teacher training to ensure public schools can open their virtual classrooms at the start of Term 2.

We would like to give special thanks to all public school teachers who are doing a fantastic job navigating these uncertain times with the limited resources they have.
