Bus Route for Hunter Highlands estate.

The Hunter Highlands is a residential estate in Sedgefield NSW, just outside of Singleton. The estate has been here for over 3 years.

Currently the approximate 20 children of the estate must use 2 different bus stops that are on roads that are 100km per hour. This is a major safety concern and an accident waiting to happen.

There has already been a couple of near misses involving the kids and cars where the cars do not slow down to the 40km an hour when passing the bus.

The buses also do not have sufficient room to move off the road completely. 

We are asking for the bus route to be changed to travel through the estate to pick the kids up in a safer area away from the main road.

An application has been in with the Department of Transport NSW for 900 days with still no outcome.

We have been advised that we are up against all other bus companies in NSW for funding.

Now an estimate of funding required for the safety of our children is approximately $4000 per year. Now this funding is quite generous calculating an extra $10 per trip to go an extra 3klm. 

We should not have to wait until an accident occurs before action is taking.

We are asking the Department of Transport NSW to act now considering they have had 3 years to make a decision.
