We are parents of students performing this weekend in Peter and the Starcatcher.  We are reaching out to request that that during the performance (while on stage), the actors may perform without masks. Governor Murphy has stated very clearly that it is a common-sense decision.

The masks are creating a terrible sound problem which will damage the caliber of the performance.

As you know, the students have been working tremendously hard for weeks and would be devastated by a mediocre performance. NVD has a reputation for putting on great shows to full house audiences and is important to the entire community to continue that excellence. In addition, the wrestling and basketball teams do not have to wear masks so it seems unreasonable to force the actors on stage to do so. This is a relatively small cast that are all vaccinated and who have already spent hours together during meals without masks. We strongly urge and request that you let them perform without masks.
