Linda Hamlin started this petition to Nottinghamshire County Council

There is an increasing amount of traffic using Ambleside, Gamston as a "cut through" and often at high speed.  It is also being frequently used by heavy goods vehicles, despite the A52 running parallel with Ambleside.  As a consequence the road surface is deteriorating.

This makes it difficult for residents of Gamston to cross the road safely, particularly for those with young children, older people and those with disabilities.  Due to the road surface and increase in traffic, it is noisy for residents, those walking along Ambleside and for those wishing to access the school, Morrisons and Bassingfield.  The amount of traffic also causes increased pollution for the community.

There is only one interactive speed sign and only one zebra crossing which is situated at one end of Ambleside.

The solution would be for Nottinghamshire County Council to introduce traffic calming measures, ban heavy goods vehicles and to resurface Ambleside.  This would make a difference to the quality of life, health and security of residents of Gamston and in particular those living along Ambleside.
