Petition Closed

On Saturday, 22 September 2012 a 10-year-old boy, Deividas (David) Jucys was knocked down and killed while crossing Friary Road, Newark. This was close to his home. The accident happened by a busy mini-roundabout where there are no appropriate pedestrian crossings. However, there are at least three primary schools and much residential housing in the immediate area. It is a problem area for adults needing to cross the road and is especially dangerous for young children.

To prevent future tragic accidents like the one that killed David, it is proposed to present a petition of local residents to Nottingham County Council via the Ward Councillor so that an appropriate pedestrian crossing can be constructed.

Member for Newark East, Nottinghamshire County Council Councillor Stuart Wallace
