Nottingham residential permit charges
Nottingham residential permit charges
Why this petition matters
My elderly parents received a letter informing them of permit charges. The council is trying to charge for additional visitor and residential permits.
Those of us especially in Lenton are fully aware of the parking issues, because of the student population. The council over the years have been issuing more and more permits to students, making it an absolute nightmare for the residents to find parking spaces. No prority is given to elderly nor to the disabled and there is an expectation to park on other streets, if no space can be found on the one people reside on.
The council needs to think about this from a moral point of view. The country is crippled due to record high living costs! Energy bills / council tax have rocketed and now the council thinks it’s ok to charge people money to pay for their cars to be parked on PUBLIC roads.
This is also very unfair for people living in Permit areas, where the council restricts issuing HMO licenses due to high numbers already issued, leaving individuals crippled as houses without licences cannot be sold easily or do not hold the same value as those with licenses. Also what about the areas that do not have permits, they will continue to enjoy free parking whereas those of us in permit areas are at a disadvantage. Does going green, thus reducing number of cars , not apply to those areas?
This will impact even those individuals who come to see elderly parents living in permit parking locations! Our areas will become even more socially deprived because of this unfair charge !
The council needs to find a better way to tackle the permit issue ! Charging people who are already struggling is not the answer!
Please sign this petition to abolish this new proposal which looks set to be put in place if we do not protest !
