We are presenting to new Council leader Cllr David Mellen a community hub proposal following our battle over this space for the last 11 months. We are highlighting the desperate need for a community facility within the Arboretum Ward and are dedicated to fighting for this space. Help fight the studentification and gentrification of a diverse, working class community in Nottingham by signing and sharing this petition.

Communi-T and Notts Activist Wellness have been in constant contact with Nottingham City Council over the last 9 months to try and save this last remaining community space in the Arboretum Ward. But the Council and planning department do not have the communities best interests at heart and they are choosing corporate and financial gain OVER community support and cohesion.

Ex-Council Leader Jon Collins agreed to hearing an offer from our community group to turn Tennyson Street Play Centre back into a community resource. We have a plan for a Community Hub that would benefit the local area far more than 60 more student beds would, however once we tried to reapproach him and our local councillors with our proposal, we were ignored and then within the same week found a planning application had been put in for 10 6 bed student flats. The council have been making underhand deals and deceiving the local residents and community groups.

We demand that our voices be heard and that our community space be returned to us.

The community has four demands:

- We demand full transparency regarding the sale of Tennyson Street Play Centre. The community deserves to be shown how this public building was sold into private hands without public knowledge. The departments and individuals involved must be held accountable for this process and how and why it was carried out deceptively and behind closed doors.

- To provide a suitable alternative community space. For Nottingham City Council to create a new community centre in Arboretum Ward for local groups to manage/ run. This must include outdoor space and a private building.

- Reparations for the loss of a community space and for the impact this will have on our area. For Nottingham City Council to demand that the business that has bought the Tennyson Street Play Centre space provides funds towards the new community centre as reparations to the area. Also that Nottingham City Council provide funds towards the new community centre.

-Support for the community over corporate interests. To discuss the effect of the universities on this area and of council policies which allow student housing developments priority in the area. To open dialogue on gentrification and the parasitic takeover of working class communities.
