As many have seen, plans have been submitted for the part redevelopment of the Exchange Building at Sneinton Market.

It is feared that the tenants, One BC Clothing, Murat Food Centre and the GB Cafe, which occupy the current ground floor units may be kicked out and have to be relocated elsewhere - whether this is permanent has yet to be confirmed - And rightfully so they aren't happy, as they could lose their home in the iconic location that is the Sneinton Market.

However information about the scheme has recently been misrepresented, with many thinking The Avenues are to be demolished and that the scheme is far larger than what is actually proposed, along with an irrational stigma towards students - Who provide a large percentage of the consumer base for the market itself.

So what will a public consultation do?

A public consultation will allow the public to view the plans, with all of the facts listed about the scheme. The public can then discuss, debate and put forward their thoughts on the scheme, including ideas, whether these be partially or completely altering the plans. This allows community involvement, in a constructive manner.

Public consultaions have resulted in changes, whether big or small, on other projects across Nottingham, the UK and the world.
