House has interfered with student schedules, and Notre Dame, being a prepatory school, is built on the foundation of preparing students for a focused academic career. The house system is contradictory to this foundation, as Notre Dame students, on whom the community is almost entirely built, feel that the program does not encourage team building or relationship building. And in this fails its primary mission as it was intended to accomplish. 

For these reasons the students at Notre Dame collectively create this petition that argues for decreased house time, to be replaced by WIN. We also argue for 10 additional minutes to be added to the collective lunch periods, as Notre Dame students already operate on a very different school schedule than many schools, and see no reason 10 additional minutes cannot be given back to lunch, per the 70-minute classes. As a proud NDP student, I believe this change will positively impact myself as well as my peers and create a  focused, well-balanced environment.
