Support Norwegian airlines flights from Baltimore to the French West Indies

For the last two years, from November to March, Norwegian Airlines has served the French West Indies (Guadeloupe and Martinique) from Baltimore BWI Airport.
These low cost flights have made the French community of the District of Columbia - Maryland - Virginia VERY happy, but above all, they have enabled many Americans to get to know the French islands of the Caribbean, contributing to a non-negligible tourist development of Guadeloupe and Martinique. For a reason that is still unknown to the general public who supported and patronized it during these two years of operation and to our greatest disappointment, Norwegian Airlines decided this year to discontinue its air routes from Baltimore to Guadeloupe and Martinique.
With this petition we would like to ask you to reconsider such a drastic decision and to reinstate some flights to the French West Indies as soon as possible from BWI.
The reasons for our request are as follows:
- The French Embassy, as well as numerous international organizations based in Washington DC and the DMV, attract a large number of metropolitan and Caribbean French who, thanks to the Norwegian Airlines flight time, were finally able to return regularly the French territory with all their family and at very attractive prices;
- These direct flights from Norwegian Airlines were extremely convenient and speedy, as we had arrived at our destination in about four hours. Without these direct flights, the journey time is multiplied by 3, we must take long and expensive connections, and this makes our journeys to the French West Indies particularly inconvenient;
- Our frustration was great when we learned that Norwegian Airlines had eliminated all its flights to the French West Indies from the Washington DC area (which is the American capital) and had extended the frequency of its flights to Guadeloupe and Martinique from New York JFK and this to six a week ! In addition, a new line was opened from Providence RI, although this region does not have a French population comparable to that of Maryland or Virginia.
It is therefore for these important reasons that we hereby adjudge you to review your decision and return flights from Baltimore to Guadeloupe and Martinique which are, so to speak, a public necessity. We would understand that, in order for these flights to remain beneficial to Norwegian Airlines, their frequency may be restricted, if only for a few flights per month, and the cost of the ticket could be increased while remaining highly competitive. We are all prepared to accept the necessary adjustments that you would be able to make to continue giving our patronage to your company.
All we are asking you here is not to completely stop your flights between the Washington DC area and the French West Indies.
