Stop sexist dress codes

Rae Bailey started this petition to Norton middle school

We are teenagers who can dress ourselves and are comfortable with our own bodies, our school clearly is not. We deserve to be able to choose what we want to wear. Our principal has stated that "you have to dress for the job you want in life" likely to cover the fact that he just said that we're distracting. He also went on to imply that he only expected us to work at Mc Donald's. We are offended. We should be capable of expressing ourselves as we see fit because we aren't dressing up for anyone but ourselves and if anyone is sexualizing us, they are the problem. My friends have been pulled out of class to change their clothes and missed assignments or important information. Our school talks about being safe and yet, they add to the feeling of uncertainty by telling us that we should not be confident in our bodies enough to wear "crop tops" or "shorts that are above the finger tip" because it's "inappropriate." It's time for a change! We, the students, in order to form a more perfect middle school, want our rights to be upheld!
