More Paid Time Off/Sick Days

More Paid Time Off/Sick Days
The Instructional Assistants employed by Northwestern Lehigh School District are important in the daily education of our students. Many of us have been employees for over 15 years and still only receive 2 sick days and 1 paid personal day each school year.
We are asking for a change in policy where more paid time off is earned as years of employment are accumulated. Additionally, we are asking for equity among all support staff in regard to personal and sick days.
Currently, some new hire part time support staff start with 2 weeks or more sick days. These employees are 12 month employees, which equals .833 days per month. If this benefit was made to be equitable, IAs should receive 8 sick days per year. Earning additional sick days or paid personal days as years accumulate would provide incentive to stay at Northwestern, as well as show appreciation for longevity.
If you agree that a change in policy regarding sick and personal paid time off needs to change, please sign the petition and share with other Instructional Assistants at Northwestern Lehigh. Thank you!
