Hannah Hymers started this petition to Northumbria Health Trust

The Northumbria Health Trust have recently closed the 4 pain management groups in the North East of England. These groups, in Hexham, Blyth, Alnwick, North Tyneside, are in some cases the only means of support for people struggling with chronic pain and other related issues. The groups provide support and education on these issues, as well as providing the opportunity for social interaction with other people in their situation.

This problem can be solved fairly easily by reinstating the groups, even on a bi-monthly basis, as it will continue to provide the support and education needed by the people utilising the group.

I started this petition because…
I am the daughter of one of the members of these groups, as well as someone who can benefit from the support the group provides. I have made this petition because I have witnessed first hand the negative impact the closing of these groups have had on my mam and the others in the group. The last 3 years for my mam and even more for other members have had such a positive impact on the mental health and pain management of the group as a whole, and closing the groups has left the people close to me floundering for support. The close friendships that have formed remain helpful, but it was the structure and education element of the group which provided the most support.
