10 is too young to charge a child with a crime. I feel there should be alternatives to deal with younger children.

I don't think it is an appropriate way to handle issues with children and young people. There is more appropriate ways. Plus dangers of labelling young people as criminals and this following them.

I believe this is an archaic law more worthy of the turn of the 19th century and has no place in the 21st century. However, an intervention strategy also needs implemented and youth convictions expunged.

Even if a child of 10 does commit a crime I don't believe they understand the consequences of their actions. Shouldn't society be tackling the reasons why young children engage in criminal activity and when they do, create a process of rehabilitation in a 'community' rather than a prison environment.
