Michael Cullen started this petition to Northern Ireland department of infrastructure

The recent passing of political giant , peace maker and Nobel peace prize winner John Hume needs to be marked and permanently acknowledged, what would be more fitting for a bridge in our city , that connects two different communities , painted white to symbolise peace , built in partnership with the European Union (the parliament in which John represented the Foyle constituency in for so long)    To be named after John Hume , in acknowledgement for his work and commitment towards peace and reconciliation not just in Derry, But Ireland - let’s not miss this opportunity to have a physical legacy for the man who in an RTE poll was voted by the people of Ireland as “Ireland’s Greatest”.
