Che Solomon started this petition to Northern Beaches Council

Highview Ave, Manly Vale, a very busy stretch of road, has been deemed dangerous for residents by Northern Beaches Council.

The avenue, while wide enough for a pavement, has no pavement.

Sadly, Council has not considered a pavement as part of the solution to reduce the danger.

Instead, Northern Beaches Council has proposed a double yellow line  at the south/western end to prevent parking on the avenue so as to "make it safer", for residents pulling out of their driveways, and for garbage trucks and other large vehicles to safely negotiate the street. Comments to Council on this proposal ends 16th April, 2021.

Council's proposal will not stop the inevitable accident if this is not combined with a pedestrian walkway.

There is sufficient space on the eastern side of the street for the construction of a safe pavement.

This will greatly assist the safety of the growing number of children attending Manly Vale public school that is situated around the corner and the elderly afraid to walk in the street before getting to the bus-stop.

We call for an immediate structure of a pavement on the eastern side to reduce the possibility of an accident and to make the street more community friendly by allowing neighbourly interaction.
