Concerned Residents started this petition to Northern Beaches Council

Petition to rezone Lower Greycliffe Street, Queenscliff to a Shared Zone, reduce the speed limit to 10km/h, erect "No Through Road" signage and allow unrestricted parking on the southern side and pedestrians to use the centre of the road

In July 2019 the Northern Beaches Council erected No Parking Signs on the southern side and a Yellow No Stopping Zone on the northern side for the entirety of Lower Greycliffe St, effectively eliminating 7 unrestricted car parking spaces within 200m of Queenscliff beach and in an area where parking spaces are in short supply.

Lower Greycliffe had been operating as an informal Shared Zone for Pedestrians and Vehicles for decades with cars parking on the Southern side of the road and pedestrians walking down the centre of the road with no incidents. Currently walking down the centre or parking on the Southern side of Lower Greycliffe should both attract a penalty fine.

Removal of these parking spaces has moved these Vehicles to already congested surrounding streets and has reduced the amenity of residents and visitors to the area for no benefit as pedestrians continue to walk down the centre of the roadway as the footpath is largely unusable.

This petition seeks to formalize the previous arrangement which will require the removal of an unusable footpath, widening the usable roadway for all, proscribing a safe speed for vehicles, the erection of a "No Through Road" sign at the entrance and legitimize the use preferred by both pedestrians and vehicles.

This will result in more efficient usage of the available road space, less confusion with traffic thinking they can enter and exit Lower Greycliffe. (Google Maps shows Lower Greycliffe as a through road which it is not) and a safer experience for both pedestrians and residents.

We the undersigned petition the Northern Beaches Council to rezone Lower Greycliffe Street, Queenscliff as a shared road for vehicles and pedestrians, remove the existing footpath, reduce the speed limit to 10km/h, erect "No Through Road" signage and reinstate parking spaces on the southern side of the road.

Thank you
