Raise the default student print credit

Currently the students of Northbrook College Sussex start the year with £5 printing credit which we in IT feel is not adequate for the students to achieve while at Northbrook.
In previous years and up to around three years ago the default printing credit was £50 for every student. This was a excellent amount, it allowed for students to print all their assignments and work without having to worry about topping up the print credit. As of the past few years this was changed to £5 which will cover around 2 to 3 assignments out of the 20+ students are required to hand in.
It currently costs 48p to print the 12 required cover sheets for an assignment. This means that with the print credit currently given to students they can print 10 assignment front sheets with the given print credit, equivalent to 3 out of 9 units; this is excluding the actual work for the assignments.
Assignments can range from anywhere from 3 pages to 50 or so pages and with the given print credit this is simply not possible to print them. Some students can simply not afford to buy more print credit if they are already given a bursary by the college for travel and more.
A lot of students feel it is very unfair that they have to pay for print credit when they have no other option to hand it in. Some departments will allow online systems such as TurnItIn whereas the IT department, like others, does simply not have a robust system that will work for their assignments. Other departments do not have to pay for the materials and resources that they use and if we are left with no other option but to print assignments then the students feel we should be allocated suitable print credit.
Therefore we feel the default print credit should be raised to an adequate level such as the £50 it used to be, to allow for students to print their assignments without any extra hassle or worry.
