Julie Sanders-Allen started this petition to Northampton County Council and

For over 25 years cars have parked in the bay on the junction of High Street and Station Road in the small village of Irchester.

Northampton County Council has now suddenly decided that after 25 years we are parked illegally and that they are now going to ticket cars parked on the bay.

The bay provides safe parking and clears obstructions from the already busy High Street.  It also means that cars can park on the High Street for short term stops to visit the small businesses.

The County Council and The Parish Council have both agreed that there is an issue with parking in the village.  Their solution is to draw some plans up which will make the already adequate parking ‘legal’, however the Parish Council will have to foot the bill for this and the process will take several months, we would rather the Parish Council save their money to fix other real problems in the village and not ones that have been created by the County Council.

There has been no consultation with the residents about this issue.  All we are asking the council to do is to revert back to the the stance they took for the last 25 years where there was no issue with using the bay as parking.

To be able to use this bay for its intended purpose is for the good of the whole community. It benefits the businesses, the residents and the village as a whole.

We would really appreciate your support with this, we feel we have been let down by local services.
