Stop N.Tyneside Council turning the road from Whitley Bay to Tynemouth in to one lane.
North Tyneside Council has proposed to turn the road running from the Whitley Bay dome to Tynemouth Castle in to a one way system, sacrificing one lane of the current road in to a cycle lane.
This is going to cause a lot of traffic disruptions all around Monkseaton and Whitley bay, with motorists having to find alternate routes to get towards Tynemouth.
Currently the paths and roads along the route are more than wide enough for pedestrians and cyclists to use with no problem. Also since the temporary change has been put in place, very few cyclists are actually using the cycle lane.
This change to the road network will cause chaos on other roads around the local area, making residential roads much more busy and present more hazards for people living on those roads.
The route from Whitley Bay to Tynemouth is a major traffic artery in the region. This change must be stopped.
