To be able to live in my off grid eco home

As young boy I lived in a house that my father called home, situated on a piece of land in a rural spot just outside Bristol.  We had chickens and ducks - I even had an amazing tree house! I have so many fond and happy memories of growing up there, though sadly this idyllic upbringing changed when I was 10 and my father passed away. The land and dwelling was left for 20 years or more and went to ruin.

At the age of 26 I moved back into the house.  It was in a bad way as it had been used as dumping ground for rubbish. The stuff I removed and recycled from the land - everything from scrap metal to 3 cars I found hidden in the undergrowth - it was a crazy amount of work, a true labour of love- but i started to clean, repair and make it my home once again.  I made the house completely eco friendly with the aid of modern technologies ,fitted solar panels and solar thermal to the roof, rainwater collection and a heating from a wood burner.  I just wanted to bring it back to how it was when dad was there, and bring it more into the 21st century and be self sufficient as my father had been, creating a vegetable garden and keeping animals.  My deceased father would be so proud of me..... And then the council happened.

I had erected a fence at the front of the land to stop the fly tipping that had been happening and to keep my pygmy goats, chickens and dog from getting on to the busy road. I received a letter from the council and from there started my battle to live on my land.  Although I had only improved what was already there, I was told I needed planning permission to be able to stay on the land so I was advised to apply for a lawful dwelling application which has since been refused.

Im now at a loss.  My worlds turned up side down, I've lost my appeal and will have to move out in early 2018 plus revert things back according to council rules about land use- even things that have been there for 20 years or more. The council have been so unhelpful.  They have a shortage in housing in the area, plus rising housing prices and I'm not allowed to live in my own home, the one that has been in my family for over 25 years. I don't have anywhere else to live, and I can't afford rent prices in Bristol - not to mention animals who would have to be re-homed.  My neighbours, friends and family are disgusted with the decision. It seems my only option is to apply for a Class Q change of use or an agricultural tie. I am hoping that this petition will help back me when I go to the council with these new plans or start a new appeal to the high court.
