As NSSD112 parents, students & community members, we place the highest importance on retaining experienced, strong teachers in our district. We are deeply concerned that District 112 will become known as one of the worst school districts on the North Shore in terms of teacher benefits, causing teachers to use District 112 as a stepping stone, a “starter” district where new teachers come to get a few years of experience before moving on to other, better-paying districts. Many wonderful teachers in our district have been teaching here for decades. It is imperative that we retain teachers who want a long-term career in District 112 and want to foster positive long-term relationships with families. We do not want District 112 to become a revolving door. As such, we support our District 112 teachers’ efforts to obtain a fair contract, to preserve the quality of education that students deserve and to maintain our district’s historic standards of excellence in education.
